“SWATH” On Notable Films of 2012 (DarkHorizons)
Snow White and the Huntsman

Analysis: Initially it was a film that left many scratching their heads. In the wake of the billion-dollar success of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, the studios seemed to be in a race to get out new cinematic takes on famous fairy tales and public domain literature with this new version of ‘Snow White’ seemingly the first to move forward. Numerous names were linked with the project during the casting phase, and various people came and went before the key three (Theron, Hemsworth, Stewart) were settled on.
The director was an unknown, the budget relatively tight ($70 million), writer Hossein Amini’s hadn’t really done much since the late-90′s, and a similar sounding rival project was on the way. Then the first inklings of something different emerged at Comic Con last year where character sketches and artwork drew good reaction.

Twi-hards and superhero geeks unite! On Thursday, Jan. 26 in Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart (Snow White), Charlize Theron (the evil Queen Ravenna) and Chris Hemsworth (the Huntsman) will participate in a brand-new edition of Moviefone’s Unscripted for ”Snow White and the Huntsman” – meaning you can them anything about the highly anticipated fairytale flick.
“Snow White” fans will have until Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST to ask a question. You can leave queries in the comments below, on our Facebook page or on Twitter. Check back to Moviefone closer to the “Snow White” release date in June to see the completed video.
Starring Stewart, Theron, Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins and Eddie Izzard, “Snow White & the Huntsman” hits theaters on June 1.
“Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ Scene To Premiere In Target
This is certainly one way to get people to attend a release party. Target will extend store hours in nearly 500 stores across the country on Feb. 10 to host a DVD-Blu-ray event for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1, which hits shelves at midnight. Beginning at 11 p.m., fans will be treated to the exclusive world premiere of a scene from the fifth and final film, in theaters this November. The scene will not be available on Target’s exclusive Limited-Collector’s Edition DVD. That does, however, come with an authentic prop flower from Bella and Edward’s wedding scene. And before you try to bribe Target employees into telling you which scene will be shown, EW is told that no one at Target will know the answer to that question until that evening.

Charlize Theron Says Kristen Puts Up A “Good Fight” In Snow White
It’s no secret that we are very excited about Kristen Stewart’s first big non-”Twilight” movie, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which made it through to the Sweet 16 in the MTV Movie Brawl 2012. We’re excited not only because Stewart is the star, but because she is playing an action-star version of Snow White and faces off against a very formidable Evil Queen in Charlize Theron.
The last time we caught up with Theron, she hadn’t yet filmed the big fight sequence with Stewart but admitted that she hoped her Evil Queen might get the best of Stewart’s Snow White. “I’m just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her,” she said with a smile. “That is how the story ends up, right?”
We’re pretty sure that isn’t how the story ends — especially since we happened to bump into Theron again at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Thursday (January 12), and she seemed to be changing her previous tune. When we asked the Oscar winner and Best Actress CCMA nominee for “Young Adult” if she’d filmed the epic fight sequence, she didn’t seem too keen to divulge any details.
“Yeah,” she admitted, “but I don’t want to talk about it.”
Why didn’t Theron want to talk about it? Did the fight not end in her favor?
“I don’t want to talk about it. No! No, it’s going to be a surprise,” she said, resisting our probing questions. “Dammit, I give you way too much. People have to pay money to go see the movie to see what happens.”
Theron finally relented a bit and revealed that Stewart’s Snow White does, indeed, kick some ass.
“She was a good fight,” Theron said. “She was a good fight. The bitch brought it! There you go. Now you have something.”
